Peter Bastian

Peter Bastian is a career reservoir engineer with several decades of oil and gas industry experience and is currently Senior Technical Advisor of Unconventional Solutions for Datagration Solutions, Inc., where he is focused on the development of workflows and evaluation methodologies to support Datagration’s unconventional evaluation initiatives.

Since 2001, Mr. Bastian has worked for several companies focused on developing unconventional assets, such as the Horseshoe Canyon CBM play in Alberta (MGV Energy Inc.), and the Montney in NE BC (Unconventional Gas Resources, Inc.).

Prior to his current role at Datagration, Mr. Bastian was co-founder and President of Mosaic Petroleum Analytics, LLC, where he developed workflows and software systems designed for unconventional resource evaluations, and Vice-President, Engineering, at UGR, a private equity-backed E&P company focused on North American unconventional gas plays. Mr. Bastian was also a reservoir engineering consultant and manager for Schlumberger’s Data and Consulting Services and for S. A. Holditch and Associates, Inc., where his duties included developing the Holditch suite of reservoir simulation software.

Mr. Bastian has BS and MS degrees from Texas A&M University and is also a Professor of Engineering Practice in the Department of Petroleum Engineering at Texas A&M University, where he teaches the Capstone Design course and Numerical Reservoir Simulation course to Senior Petroleum Engineering students.
